Bill Higginson (1938-2008) 

Always greatly missed, and an inspiration, Bill (William J. Higginson) was considered to be the foremost American authority on haiku, as well as famous as the co-author of The Haiku Handbook: How to Write, Share, and Teach Haiku, and author of Haiku World: An International Poetry Almanacand The Haiku Seasons: Poetry of the Natural World.

The Haiku Handbook is one of the most widely-read English-language haiku books.

Janice Bostok (1942-2011)

The First Lady of Australian Haiku, and a hugely supportive friend and colleague in my early career.  She is still greatly missed by me.

Hidenori Hiruta
